Ilosaarirock's festival lineup complete

The lineup for the summer's best weekend is now complete with a dozen new names added, making the festival program for the summer of 2024 ready!

Come July, the Ilosaarirock crowd will get to witness a unique special performance as Finnish metal giant Stam1na takes the stage together with the beloved Joensuu City Orchestra. Brace yourselves for the onslaught of an electrifying energy as the orchestra and metal band unite, unleashing a whirlwind of raw power and intense emotion. This will surely be one of the most unforgettable performances Laulurinne has ever seen!

Having delivered 28 years of blistering thrash, intricate riffs, and choruses grander than oceans, Stam1na isn't just a metal band but more of a metal institution. A vital entity in society, a true establishment, and fundamentally impacting the essence and actions of humanity. They've reshaped the Finnish heavy music scene over their long career, proving release after release the truly unique nature of Stam1na as a group. The talented and tirelessly industrious group is just as breathtaking live as they are on record, and when their music is accentuated by the thunderous presence of an entire orchestra, the result is guaranteed to be something unprecedented.

"Within the Finnish rock tradition, there's a strong notion that a band truly 'makes it' when they play at Ilosaarirock with an orchestra. Now it's Stam1na's turn to expand. As a band, we're eternally grateful for this nod from Ilosaarirock and the Joensuu City Orchestra in our direction. A gig like this is unlikely to be repeated," says Stam1na's vocalist-guitarist Antti “Hyrde” Hyyrynen.

Stam1na will perform at Ilosaarirock alongside the Joensuu City Orchestra, which has been seen on the festival stage in past years with domestic acts like CMX, Samuli Putro, and Insomnium.

"The city orchestra is extremely excited to perform again at Ilosaarirock after a few years off, this time alongside Stam1na! Conducting the performance is Krzysztof Dobosiewicz, who has often collaborated with us on Ilosaarirock projects. From his pen, we'll receive yet another set of arrangements written in the spirit of Stam1na, which will undoubtedly captivate," praises Marjo Vattulainen, the Joensuu City Orchestra's intendent.

In addition to Stam1na and the Joensuu City Orchestra, Ilosaarirock's lineup also includes the internationally acclaimed jazz-funk fusion band Dirty Loops (SE), as well as a colorful array of Finnish music represented by Bämä, Decrowned, F, Jore & Zpoppa, Karri Koira, Mary Ann Hawkins, MELO, Moon Shot, Steve ‘n’ Seagulls, and Tupe.

With these additions, the Ilosaarirock lineup is complete (or valmis, färdig, fin, and so forth)! Performance schedules will be released closer to summer, and around the same time, the festival's art and area program will be revealed. The fun doesn't end with the gigs!

So, what's next? Here are our suggestions:
