In the good old days The Damned used to hang around with The Sex Pistols and The Clash and the band was supposed to hair the crown as The Punk band. Now we know this didn’t come true and these days the band is most famous of their Bono look-alike lead singer David Vanian.
Ilosaarirock is famous for introducing new faces to the public. New Yorker Saul Williams is an artist who’s poems have been translated into Finnish by the Finnish rap artist Paleface. On Sunday afternoon Saul Williams and his amazing DJ shocked at the YleX-stage.
When the sun shines and the people are happy, one doesn’t anything spectacular. Nicole Willis and her band The Soul Investigators did just that. Sun corresed party people enjoyed the perfect easygoing chilling music on Sunday evening at the Rentolava- stage.
When going to a festival I don’t just like to go there and see the bands, I also like to have once in a while a look at the colourful people within the festival folk. Somehow you can find the same kind of people at every festival, it doesn’t matter in which country you are.
Polish Paprika Korps has toured in Finland many times and has thereby made lots of friends. The beach was filled with those friends who had gathered to dance in many different ways. Not even the burning sun could hold the dancers back. For a more tired partygoer it was not a bad choice to lie on the grass further away, bathe in the sun and feel the roar of the bass in the spinal cord.

Friends of extreme metal were treated with manna raining down from the skies, as Rotten Sound unleashed their killing machine for the first time ever in the history of Ilosaarirock.
The festival folk packed in front of Rentolava (The Chill Out Stage) were met with open arms by the dynamic duo Hannibal and Soppa, familiar to some from Tulenkantajat.
