Automatic fire with a machine gun: Rotten Sound
Friends of extreme metal were treated with manna raining down from the skies, as Rotten Sound unleashed their killing machine for the first time ever in the history of Ilosaarirock.
The foot soldiers and khalifs of grindcore shook the metal scene by reaching the official Finnish album charts with their album Murderworks. The next album, Exit, continued the triumph of the band until it was time for another shockwave. Kai Hahto, the world renown drummer of the band, left his seat behind the drumkit. But before the dust had even settled, Rotten Sound had an answer for all the skeptics who thought the band couldn’t go on without Hahto: a new drummer, Sami, a disciple of Hahto and a brand new “Consume to Contaminate” EP. The disciple has proven to be worth of his master and grindcore fans had no reason to feel disappointed when listening to the new release.
Early evening on Sunday isn’t among the most easiest timeslots to play in, but the band broke through such barricades like a steamroller, blasting 12-gauge shell holes on its way. The group also paid tribute to their role models, like Raised Fist who played Saturday, and Entombed who had punished the festival crowd just an hour earlier. Appropriate respect was also paid to friends gone by.
Should you have an extra amount of energy and that tingling dance feeling in your feet, feel free to administrate “Targets” from Rotten Sound before going into the pit.
