When you want something badly enough, it just might happen — the newly reformed Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana makes its long-awaited return to Ilosaarirock!

In fall 2025, fans across the board let out a collective sigh of relief as Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana, who had called it quits in 2019, announced their return to the studio and the stage with a revamped lineup. The new 20-piece ensemble brings together Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen’s 17-piece jazz orchestra with veteran rappers Paleface and Tommy Lindgren, now joined by the beloved rapper and singer F.

From the very beginning, Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana has stood out above all as a formidable live act. Their compositions are tightly arranged yet feel alive and fluid, growing beyond their structure in the hands of a masterful big band and charismatic vocalists. This isn’t jazz with rap or rap with jazz, but a fully realized blend where horn arrangements, driving rhythm sections and vocal delivery move side by side in full force.
