On Saturday afternoon people near Rentolava (The Chill Out Stage) got to enjoy a combination that works just as surely as beer and cigarettes or coffee and cognac: sun, beach and a Finnish hip hop group. Last year the entertainer was Ruudolf, this year Leijonamieli & Putkimiehet.
A good-humoured and relaxed Tuomari Nurmio transformed the main stage into an intimate rock club.
The years may have lessened the swing of the lead singer’s hips but they have taken nothing away from their music.
If the audience hadn’t woken up before, after Stella they weren’t sleeping for sure. The band was in high spirits and managed to gather a pretty respectable amount of people to hear their message. As the guitarist Janne said, “I’ve been to Ilosaarirock 13 times and have always dreamt of playing here.” You sure could believe him.

The rock pride of Joensuu, 51 Koodia, opened the YleX stage on Saturday. The band, which made its breakthrough couple of years ago, served its melodic rock with the usual style and energy.
The second Töminä, the “punk and noise event” of Ilosaarirock, gathered approximately 1200 partygoers to the Joensuu ice hockey rink. As already proven last year, the rink was not at all a bad venue for such an event.
