Artemas cancels, Käärijä joins Sunday's lineup
Unfortunately, British-Greek artist Artemas has had to cancel his upcoming performance at Ilosaarirock. Artemas was originally scheduled to take the stage on Sunday 20 July. Filling the slot is none other than Käärijä, one of Finland’s most successful international stars, making his much-anticipated return to Laulurinne.
Käärijä, who rose to worldwide fame as the public’s Eurovision favorite, hardly needs an introduction. With his colossal hit Cha Cha Cha, he made Finnish music history, broke records, defied expectations and made sure no one back home could miss the phenomenon. His chaotic cocktail of rave, rap and rock – topped off with absurdist humor – gets crowds fired up everywhere from Polvijärvi to Paris and Enontekiö to Edinburgh.
His previous Ilosaarirock set turned into such a sensation ahead of time that we had to make special arrangements to ensure everyone got in to see the show. This summer, we’re gearing up for something even bigger – and if the rumors coming from Käärijä’s camp are true, there may be surprise guests joining him on stage.
– When festivalgoers are craving a party, a party is what they’ll get – and who better to steer Sunday night’s chaos than our shirtless wild child Käärijä? We’re deeply grateful to Käärijä and his whole team for jumping in on such short notice. Expect an unforgettable rave, says our promoter Panu.
Käärijä will close out the YleX Stage on Sunday 20 July, starting at 21:25. You can check the updated festival schedule here or in the Ilosaarirock mobile app (only available in Finnish).
