Kid Koala charmed stage three
Kid Koala must be one of the most eccentric artists in Ilosaarirock this year. Categorizing the Canadian wonder-dj to any certain genre would only provoke severe anxiety.
The small tent of stage three was packed full of audience, and arriving a bit late, the canuck told he’s sorry for not arriving on time and started his set, of which the audience loved every second. Video screen made it possible to follow the dexterity of the maestro.
Kid Koala’s style is rather unique and catchy. Samples of different type morph into a completely new organism, and with help of scratching the artist is able to create completely unnatural sounds and changes of rhythm made the entity perfect. From time to time the set sounded like fast drum ‘n bass, just to suddenly calm down to almost sensitive moods. A certain sincerity is the main theme left to mind from this set.
