The Entertaining All Stars of Reggae at Rentolava
The Saturday evening at Rentolava (The Chill Out Stage) ended with an exceptional gig: a fantastic sound system came ashore at Lintulahti.
Fi-Reggae Allstars has six vocalists from different reggae groups: Raappana, Bongo Rhino, Nopsajalka, Puppa J, Paarma and Natty Kauka. This was also seen in the tone of the gig, and the rhymings of the said reggae stars was crowned by sturdy bass rhythms. The repertoire of Fi-Reggae consisted of songs by Soul Captain Band and other Finnish reggae groups as well as new versions of foreign classics. In the true Jamaican fashion, the songs were arranged to fit the group’s own style and they were further spiced up by the imrovised lyrics of the six vocalists. It was delightful to hear Finnish versions of the former Jamaican reggae interpretations of the classics. The rhythm section worked well and completed the sound scene nicely, especially the guitars were easy on the ears.
As could be expected, the audience lived along with the reggae collective to the fullest. The front of Rentolava was filled with a dancing crowd, and - thanks to the improved sound reproduction - it was also possible to enjoy the reggae rhythms further away from the stage. Not even the cool evening weather bothered the audience when Caribbean rhythms breathed warmth into people’s minds and bodies. Fi-Reggae Allstars ended for its part the successful Saturday evening filled with excellent rhythm music.
