Räjäyttäjät – pure TNT

“Anarchism works in theory but not in practice” was the first comment I heard when I walked in through the gates. This deep analysis hit me like a hundred thousand volts straight into my brain. Oh yes, welcome back to Töminä. It’s a pleasure to be here again, like every year.

The first gig I got to see was Räjäyttäjät, a group that claims to be the toughest rock band of Finland. This attitude was made very clear by the singer/guitarist Rapa: “Last time I was in Joensuu I went to Lehmo”. And like the people in the business know, that place is not for day-trippers but usually unwillingly reached by a black-and-white. This time they didn’t get all that far, even though Rapa got rid of most of his clothes during the show. The so-called “full frontal nudity” was to be missed out on, but some bare ass was exhibited. On stage and in the audience.  And that’s just alright.

The only thing I can say about their music is that it must have been some kind of rock. Hard and sweaty. I’m not going to analyze something that doesn’t need to be analyzed. It seems that for Räjäyttäjät a shocking rock’n'roll show is more important than harmonious nuances. But these guys do have attitude, if attitude translates to “Fuck on!” All the time, always and anywhere. Except at home?
