“Ni kan dansa också”, The Valkyrians apprised the listeners straight off the beginning, a discreet invitation to dance during the show. The crowd complied. The ever-convivial ska troupe began with a mellow instrumental, after which the singer Angster was let loose on the stage.
The sunshine was a welcome guest after the cloudy Saturday, and even in the mid-day heat, the intense set had people dancing and moving about to the music. The beach wasn’t overly packed with listeners, so everybody had ample room to sway and swing about. Angster’s multilingual remarks between songs raised smiles, and the “imaginary lasso” was employed regularly.
I Want to See Some Action and Hold on Rudy from their latest album inspired the audience to shout and sing along, and as a final treat, The Valkyrians pampered the fans with Hooligans and Do You Really Wanna Know.
Smiling faces, the sun and ska – this Rentolava at its best.
