Hardly any band wishes for a blockbuster movie sharing the name with the band. Even if the movie would tell of a good subject, there’s still the danger of some questions being made. Even if you’ve actually been playing long before the movie came out.
I Walk the Line is a honest and true name, as they indeed truly walk that line. The front of the stage is filled by the younger fans of the group long before the show starts. The girls are gathered in the center area, while boys are evenly spread on left and right.
As the fine men in black, complemented by a lady in black, take over the stage, the general mood is peaceful. I Walk the Line has built a trusthworthy reputation, a band who can be trusted. No messing around, no crowd-yelling, but no divaic acts either. The band exists to sincerely perform their honest music.
The general mood is very spontaneous and straight-forward. Just before “Surrender” the audience gets to say “goodbyes” to keyboard-player Anna Pirkola, who will temporarily depart the band’s shows due to her pregnancy. If a punk gig can be a gig of good mood, this was one.
