The Forbidden Songs of Mauri Antero Numminen

04_MANumminen_mv_003.jpgDuring the 1960’s Finland had an iron bar to support her spine and a red terror living next door. The state-controlled radio network was vulnerable to all kinds of revolutionary forces trying to shake the order and power of social democratic Finland.

These forces were bravely fought by banning completely the outrageous song “Naiseni kanssa eduskuntatalon puistossa” (”In the park of the parlamentary house with my woman”).

But times have changed, as this old devil can find himself a stage to perform his songs while accompanied by Pedro Hietanen. When the youth, and also the older crowd, who have already sank into the hopeless depths of degeneration, offer a hearty welcome to dangerous music like this, the threat of a new great war is imminent!

04_MANumminen_mv_001.jpgAlthough Numminen himself admitted his music doesn’t represent the soul-mutilating genre of rock, he admitted still being guilty in spirit. Talvisota-rock (”Winter war-rock”) which ended the setlist proved this statement an underestimation, for both Mr. Numminen and Mr. Hietanen had already risen to be the rock-evildoers who have destroyed our noble nation.
