What stays after day one at Ilosaarirock
First of all, I just want to add that the glam rockers from the Darkness finally managed what I was looking and waiting for all yesterday - they made the crowd dancing and jumping around.
What to say about my first day at a Finnish festival? In fact, I didn’t really know what to expect from it, as I didn’t know most of the bands in advance. For me they were mostly just names on a paper and nothing more. Sometimes, like it happened yesterday, it’s a good thing not to expect anything, as the surprising effect afterwards is always good. And for all who haven’t known before, Finland is not just the country of dark and black music, it also produces good bands from all other music genres - from Rock to Reggae.
As already mentioned before, the shows went well, the weather was good and at least those who still could celebrate after having experienced the ‘harsh’ side of living at the camping site were having a good time and sharing their happy moods.
Saturday evening and with it Day 1 of Ilosaarirock 2006 then ended dignified after a great show of the Darkness with a nice firework and a wonderful coloured Finnish evening sky.
