The hottest dance party at this year's Ilosaarirock Festival
So many Finnish artists and songwriters specializing in electronic music have at some point packed up their keyboards and headed overseas. This also applies to Large Amount of Soul, also known as L.A.O.S., which is probably a much more familiar name abroad than it is in Finland. Most of their releases have been on British labels (Hospital, Spearhead), and they have remixed music by artists varying from drum'n'bass pioneers 4hero to Finland's own Sunrise Avenue. At the moment, L.A.O.S. is working on a debut album to be released later this spring. But it would be a shame if this brilliant collective ended up being hogged by foreign countries, and Ilosaarirock Festival is both glad and honoured to be the first Finnish festival to host a major gig by L.A.O.S.
L.A.O.S.'s music is dance-floor-friendly, atmospheric and melodic drum and bass, featuring influences from many different styles of bass-orientated club music from dubstep to future garage. L.A.O.S.'s key members Abraham, D-Bex and Jayem have all started their careers as DJs and producers, and in 2010 the line-up was complemented with female vocalist Alexx, who also writes the lyrics for the songs. At Ilosaarirock Festival, L.A.O.S. is joined by a good friend of the band straight from UK, MC Reefer, a microphone man with that little something needed to make the band and the audience become one. There's a hot dance party ahead in the darkening July night, and you don't have to go to faraway places to be a part of it.
