TOHTORI ORFF & HERRA DALCROZE

So who of you can count how many times the brilliant children's music combo Tohtori Orff & Herra Dalcroze has played at Ilosaarirock? The fingers in one hand surely are not enough, but what if you use your toes too? In addition to their being one of the most faithful Ilosaarirock performers of all time, they also possess something like a world record of having played on the most variable stages and places within the gates of the festival ground, all the way from a humble plot of grass to Relax stage, Rekka stage and the End of the Festival club. This year, the band sets on fire the audience of the Sulo club.

Three almost grown-up men make up the band Tohtori Orff & Herra Dalcroze. The weird-sounding name is self-evident to all who have ever studied music education or eurhythmics (no, not Eurythmics), and the music is refreshingly unpretentious and down to earth. Cardboard boxes duplicate as drums, and a special favourite is a children's sled played with a doorkey (I guess you have to see for yourself how it happens).

Tohtori Orff & Herra Dalcroze has played together for more than ten years now. During that time, they have made hundreds and hundreds of gigs and given the Finnish children's culture a welcome stimulation with their five albums, of which the latest is Sumffaa.

Warning: attending to a Tohtori Orff & Herra Dalcroze gig may cause sudden delight and a visible improvement in the well-being.
