RISTO

Risto has been a hot name in the Finnish marginal music circles for a couple of years now, ever since the release of their first, self-titled album from 2004. That record was already perplexing enough, but last autumn the follower, Aurinko aurinko plaa plaa plaa struck the wider audience like a tidal wave. Ever since, this half-naïve, half-profane combo has found wild success among music fans and critics alike, and their album was, among other rave reviews, in the top ten lists of the best albums of 2006 in virtually every Finnish music magazine.

Risto's heart and soul is the singer/keyboardist Risto Ylihärsilä, whose attitude in spite of all the praise has remained cool. When the man heard that his band's album was selected as the best album of 2006 by the Finnish rock bible Rumba, he poured some more milk into his coffee and gave an exhaustive reply: "Good".
