Here's without doubt this summer's most requested and most repeated four letter word. Although the vocalist girls Paula and Mira originally met each other at the Finnish Popstars (neither of them did particularly well in the actual competition), they have ever since that day been going against the stream, career-wise and otherwise. Indeed, they are a far cry from your usual commercialised, prepackaged pop star stuff: exhilaratingly spontaneous, yet without controversy also very talented artists and divinely gifted performers.
And today, at last, everyone knows it, not just the band themselves and a handful of friends: their latest album, last year's Leskiäidin tyttäret, sold platinum in just one day. Arguably their most integrated and best album yet, it gives us all the reason to believe that their magnificent success has not given the girls cold feet, but rather added to their energy and vigour. Come and see these "dramatic pop minxes", as the music webzine Drowned in Sound called them, before they start their six-month gig break and again do something unexpected – give out an album of children's songs, that is.
