MAJ KARMA
Originally baptised after a Finnish graphic artist renowned for her pretty illustrations for children's books. Their biggest hit song claims not to be a song at all. Who are this bunch of weirdos anyway?
Luckily for us, Maj Karma's urge to be peculiar just for the sake of being peculiar has over the years diminished somewhat, and today they concentrate on what they can do best: magnificently screeching, metallic rock'n'roll with not a few darkly desolate references to the legendary Finnish Eighties gothic band Musta Paraati.
Maj Karma's latest two albums Sodankylä (2004) and Ukkonen (2006) have been wildly successful and go very well to show what can be expected of this live experience: a bald tenor on the vocals, a guitarist putting on distortion just the right amount in order to prevent the act ending up all artsy-fartsy. A tight rhythm section hammers out the last points to Maj Karma's emblematic crown. Let the mayhem begin!
