ISMO ALANKO TEHOLLA
Ismo Alanko, the legendary Finnish singer-songwriter-guitarist who began his career already in the Seventies with the punk band Hassisen Kone, has for a long time found his spiritual home amidst the intensive, carefully arranged sounds of Ismo Alanko Säätiö. After last summer's tour, however, the band decided to have a little break.
Alanko managed to stay out of limelights for almost six months before the need to get onstage got the better of him again. For his companion, he got the multi-instrumentalist Teho Majamäki, already familiar from Säätiö and many other Alanko's bands. Ismo Alanko Teholla offers a retrospective view on Alanko's long career, but it is in no means just a pompous walk down the memory lane, something an artist with almost three decades of intensive music making behind him could easily fall back to. The two men manage to handle an unbelievable number of instruments and find new sides of the old songs gig in, gig out.
