EMMA SALOKOSKI ENSEMBLE

Here's a marvellous artist that no Ilosaarirock veteran has been able to miss, or, for that matter, forget. Emma Salokoski originally became famous as one of the members of the Finnish rhythm collective Quintessence, but during the last few years she has busied herself with a variety of other activities, too. Besides her studies in vocal music, she has also been performing both live and on record with such bands as Q-Continuum, Don Johnson Big Band and Husky Rescue.

In spite of all her projects elsewhere, Salokoski has also found time to start a solo career. Emma Salokoski Ensemble's first release was the EP Puutarhassa (2003), but it was with the debut album Kaksi mannerta that really raised her popularity to an entirely new level. The elegant, jazzy arrangements combined with Finnish lyrics and Emma's exquisite voice together make a combination that effortlessly brings to mind the beautiful, leisurely summer days.
