ANTHONY B (JAM)
Here's a man who has been accustomed to make up his mind independently ever since his teenage years. When Anthony B's parents did not want to accept their son's Rastafarism, he moved out of the house and went to live with his relatives instead.
A similar individualism is still characteristic to Anthony B's personality and to his music, especially when it comes to his much-praised lyrics in which he is not afraid to take a firm stance against injustice and defend the poor. His first album Real Revolutionary came out in 1996 when he was only twenty, and ever since that day this early bird has really caught a number of worms: in the course of the ten years following his debut, Anthony B has released ten albums and, wait for it, a total of about one thousand singles! On top of all that, he has somehow found time for co-operation with such names as Akon, Wyclef Jean and Snoop Dogg.
Thanks to his lyrics, his unusual productivity and his energetic gigs, Anthony B is in constant demand as a live act just about anywhere on the globe. We are very pleased that this summer also the peace-loving people on Ilosaarirock ground will be able to bask in the light of his radiant stage presence.
