Uniklubi is the archetype of those bands that no self-respecting muso can ever confess to dig. This is because Uniklubi is a band much loved by numerous teenage fans. But the band also has got something that no amount of teenage love can steal from them, and that something has been found by many more open-minded music aficionados both in Finland and abroad.
After their first album Rakkautta ja piikkilankaa Uniklubi played more than one hundred gigs. One of the performances took place at Masters of Rock, the largest outdoor festival in Czech Republic, which was indeed a suitable opportunity to prove that even a band that sings in Finnish can work like a charm with a Middle European audience.
Uniklubi's second album Kehä (2005) shows that when the attitude is right, even a tried-and-tested success formula can still be refined and new musical paths discovered.
