TUOMARI NURMIO

Tuomari Nurmio is an artist who has spent the best part of the last few years receiving various sorts of prizes and rewards and who could, if he wanted, just sit down comfortably and bask in the praise of fans and critics. But he doesn't want to. What he wants to do is to move on and make new music. Last year he joined forces with Alamaailman Vasarat (who can also be seen in Ilosaarirock) for the acclaimed album Kinaporin kalifaatti and for a number of fantastic gigs. Now this project has been put on hold, and Nurmio continues his musical journey elsewhere, with new collaborationists.

Tuomari Nurmio's set on Ilosaarirock Main Stage is a solo one. Now, some may think that this simply cannot work: how could one man and a guitar have enough presence to fill up the huge stage on his own? But let us remind you that the man is unarguably the most charismatic singer-songwriter in Finland, and during his career that spans four decades he has made enough classic songs to fill up not only the stage, but the entire Laulurinne ground, and even then some notes may have to go swimming in the adjoining Lake Pyhäselkä.
