Capleton, a devout Rastafarian, is one of those artists that nobody in their right mind would think of blaming of selling out. Born in 1967 in a small Jamaican town as Clifton George Bailey III, he put out his first single in 1989, and since then he has released a total of thirteen full-length albums. Although one might think that so many records eventually leave one lost for words, this does not apply to Capleton: his lyrics are unwaveringly passionate, unashamedly political sermons about what he thinks is wrong with the society.
Capleton bends the knee to no one. His music may not be everyone's cup of tea, but his live performances are events that even the most cynical of us – as in Jamaica, so in Joensuu – find hard to resist.
